View Full Version : Crank Pulley Question

I have what I thought are 2 1988 d16a6 motors, but both have different size crank snouts (where the pulley attaches to the crank). One seems to be 22mm, while the other is about 24mm. Does anyone know what year d16a6 motors have the 22mm size? My problem is that the motor I am using for the car needs a pulley with a 22mm opening and all I have is the pulley with the 24mm opening.
I guess I can take this post one step further and say that if someone has an extra pulley with the 22mm opening, I am in need of it.

I thought for sure that all D16A6's had the 24mm crank snout. It's the D16A1's (86-89 Integra) that had the 22mm snout. So, if you need a 22mm pulley, 86-89 Integra! I've got an extra one if you want to make me a reasonable offer for it.
Also, I'm not sure if it's a concern for you, but the 86-89 Integra pulley's are undampened - they are much like the old 84-87 12-valve crank pulley's or the D15Bx equipped 88-91 DX trim.

Thanks for the reply TJ. From what I have been reading, it looks like some 88 d16a6 motors had a 22mm snout while most, and all 89-91's had the 24mm. But this I am not positive.

My first 88 Honda CRX si was one of the first built (can't remember serial number but it was real low), the lady I bought it from was the original owner and said it was the first one to come into the local Honda dealer. Anyhow, I can verify that early, early, early model D16A6 motors have a 22mm snout. They also have a way light stamped steel crank pulley with no dampening material. Not sure the VIN, cutoff, but the dealer verified for me that there was an engine design change in 88. Problem was, he couldn't order me a new one. It takes a little lathe work to drill this pulley out to 24mm and cut off the A/C portion of the pulley, but then it is one of the lightest, legal crank pulleys around!!
