Need some advice on mounting a Kirkey seat in my '83 GTI for ITB. Have a few ideas, but need more. Important factors - safety-simplicity-cost. Thanks, Ned

Speak with your cage builder or one in your area. We tied our seat in our 83 gti to the cage. The thought is if the damage is so hard as to move the cage, the seat will move away with it. Cost and simplitiy is available if a new cage, if not, Like a helmet how much are you worth. We sort of copied the nascar set up with slides built in on the rails to allow multiple drivers.

Ned, I bolted the right rear section right on the existing slider, and fab'd up some brackets for the 3 other corners. Don't forget about the rear seat brace and make sure that it doesn't aim at your neck. There was a thread on this a while ago.

I didn't use sliders and have had to re-fab up other brackets for renter's. My seat is pretty low in the car, but at least my helmet doesn't hit the roof.
