Mundane question perhaps, but here goes. Are vented rotors legal on an itc rabbit? The gcr states 239mm disc, so I assume that means the factory solid rotor. Correct?

No, they are not. The 75-80 1.6 Rabbit/Scirocco never came with vented rotors.

About 6 years ago, they removed the "solid" and "vented" remarks in the brake section of the car classification line.

Interestingly, the Kelsey-Hayes calipers were designed to accept the thicker vented rotors, while the earlier Girling and Teves calipers can't. What was the first year for the Kelsey-Hayes calipers (i.e., are they legal in ITC)? I *think* I recall that they came out in 1980. As I recall, the pre-GTI Rabbit Bilstein cup cars did use vented rotors, and that series included 1.6L and 1.7L cars. I know for a fact that the ITB Golf listing includes the former Golf cup cars (& specs), as that has been spelled out several times, but I'm less certain whether the ITC Rabbit includes the former Rabbit cup cars (& specs).

My 1975-1979 Bentley Rabbit/Scirocco manual shows the KH calipers, and states that they came on US manufactured cars. Since the Scirocco was never manufactured in the US, I would assume that the KH calipers only came on US manufactured Rabbits. In 1980, the KH calipers came on the Sciroccos.

Yes, they are legal for ITC.

This month's Fastrack made them (KH calipers) legal for the Scirocco 1.5L cars in G-Production. http://Forums.ImprovedTouring.com/it/wink.gif

How are the discs legal for IT? Just cause they fit in the caliper or did they actually come on the rabbit?

I meant to say the Kelsey Hayes calipers are legal, not the vented rotors.
