I am restoring a 1981 Rabbit Convertible and have reached the point of doing the suspension.

Can any of you seasoned veterans advise me on the best options. I want a reasonably confortable ride but a sporty suspension package. Here are my questions:

Should I use lowering srpings?

Adjustable struts/shocks or HD or Sport?(cost vs performance vs ride)

Do I need to replace strut bearings while I'm at it?

Where to buy?

Thanks.

shocks: tokiko illumina adjustable

and yes on the strut bearing assembly
also install upper and lower stress bars
hope this gets you started
btw i also have a 79 scirocco set up for autocross for sale...
good luck...Pat

Also, try Tirerack. They have suspension "kits" available, from H&R & Koni. Between $1,100 and $1,300

Bolt in type kits

Try Shine Racing. I've heard good things about their "Real Street" packages and this is what I'm going to install on my '84 Rabbit.
