If there is anyone out there fighting to make a Golf competitive in ITS, please take a minute to visit http://www.2litre.itgo.com - it describes an initiative that we are calling IT2, an effort to create a category for the contemporary, 4-cylinder cars that have been orphaned in ITS. Of particular interest will be the "Jump Start" program, kicking off this year to promote interest and awareness of the potential of these cars.
This provision creates a "virtual" series, run within the organization of existing SCCA regionals (or events run by any other sanctioning body that recognizes IT rules). Go to the site and scroll down to "Getting Started". Spread the word or volunteer to be IT2 Regional Administrator for your area! Let me know if there are questions...

Best,

Kirk

Previously we'd decided against a 2L GTI due to the very issues your new idea is trying to resolve. And instead built a VR6 Corrado. I like the 2L 16v idea. If this effort gains momentum, we'll probably build a car.

If you have any customers who currently do have one, or know of anyone out there who is, pass the word to them. I would be interested to get your guesstimate on a couple things, as well...

1. What would a 2.0 16v Golf weigh in IT trim, without and fanatical lightening effort or ballast?

2. What kind of power would that engine make in IT trim? Best guess is useful.

Kirk,
No 2L customers just yet but I think that is just a function of how popular this idea will become.

As far as your questions...
1) It would be EASY to get the car to the SCCA min. weight.

2) Hmmmm Don't really have any experience with minor mods on this (9A) engine.
