Quick question

I currently own an 87 Jetta GL 1.8l 8V, 4 door with 5 spd. Should I prep a 4 door for ITB, or start looking for a 2 door GTI / Golf.

I would appreciate any direction.

The Jetta can be made to be every bit as competitive as the Golf. The weight distribution is better and the aerodynamics are too. Find a GLi wing for the trunk.

We ran against a guy at the Glen last year who was quicker than all the Golfs.

The Jetta is listed at 2330# - 50 more than the Golf - and the CR is only 8.5:1 (vs. 10 for the Golf). Howzat? The question would be can you get a 4dr to that weight - I don't know the answer right off hand...

Wasn't there a Fastrack correction for the Jetta that brought the compression up to 10? I believe it also corrected the wheelbase measurement from 94.5 to 97.3. If not, it needs to be!

The Jettas and Golfs are 8.5:1
Uless you race a GLi or GTI.
Or you run a Digi car 87.5 and later.

First off, I believe that the CR of the Jettas was corrected to 10:1. Second, I belive that through the update/backdate rule, you can make all the ITB A2 cars the equiv. of the GTI/GLI.
