Hello gang:
Silly me, I just found that my 83 VW A1 CIS GTI 'Full Throttle Switch' was not being 'turned on' with full throttle, it was ever so slightly out of adjustment. Now it is working, whew.

Question: What kind of performance increase will I see? Is this a huge thing, i.e. 10hp? Or just little richer fuel condition and no real performance will be noticed?

Of course I am hoping it will wake up the car and I will pass everybody on the straights.

Curious,

I think you can gain a few hp at the top end I've heard, but nothing like 10hp.

You can try this mod as another means of fiddling with the fuel enrichment:

It's not so much that it will buy you any more hp or not. It's more a function of helping keep the car from leaning out at the high end.

BTW, there's a little trick that you can use to make the car run a little better. Wire up a toggle switch inside the car to control the FTE. Then, when the car is warmed up, and you're on the track and getting ready for the start, flip the switch. This will make the fequency valve run at 65% duty cylce all the time. Make sure you turn it off if you're in the pits, or you will load the thing up.
