View Full Version : AUDI Wheels fit on VW?

Ralf

Went to the local junk yard and found a set of AUDI wheels that I'm hoping will fit on my GOLF. There was a GTI next to the AUDI, but since the offset of the AUDI wheels were 45mm, I could not get them to fit on the GTI hub because the tire was hitting the strut. So I'm hoping one of you kind gentleman has the info I'm looking for.
Obviously with the 45mm offset, I will have to run spacers so what I'm really concerned with is the bolt pattern. Do these have the same 4x100 bolt pattern? I heard some do and others are something like 4x105.

I've seen a few Rabbit GTIs and Golfs with these very wheels. If I'm not mistaken, as long as the wheels are from non-Quattro models, they will have a 4x100 bolt pattern. One example of a non-Quattro car that had these wheels is the Audi 4000.

Good luck!

All Audi 2 wheel drive models before 1993 (4000's, coupes, and 5+5's, 80, 90) have a 4 X 100 bolt pattern. All Quattro's (4 wheel drives) have a 4 X 108 unless they have 5 lugs which are the 5000's 100's 200' and the v8.

Hope this helps!!

Thanks guys. The car they came off of was a 4000 so they should fit then.

I am corrected again!! In 85 they came out with the bigger brakes therefor requiring the larger bolt pattern.... so I think Everything after 85 DOES HAVE THE LARGER BOLT PATTERN!!!!

I posted in the classified section a set of 13 inch 4x100 audi wheels for sale. I used them on my ITB Golf prior to getting 14x6 inch wheels. They are in excellent shape, and are just taking up space in the shop.

Thanks,
Alan

The problem w/ the H&R spacers is that anything over 15mm has the spacer mount to the hub/drum and then the wheel stud/bolt threads into the spacer. I'm sure they're fine for the street, but I wouldn't want to use them in a racing application. I think running wheel bolts in and out of the aluminum or the constant torqueing of the lug nuts combined w/ the high lateral loads from cornering would lead to eventual failures.

If you need 4x100 spacers for a VW, I got 3/4" ones from Bildon that are very nice.

these spacers are used on most of the race cars in america and europe ..believe me when i tell you they are beautiful high quality equipment..

Phil,

I don't doubt that they are high quality, I would just be concerned w/ the studs/lug bolts being threaded into aluminum. I suppose that you could modify them and drill the main holes out (the ones that mount them to the hub) and use long studs/lug bolts.

Ralf,
I run the Audi wheels on my A1 GTI. I made the mistake of buying 2 sets of the Audi 16 spoke RONAL look a like wheels not knowing the different bolt patterns/part numbers. Fortunately, I have 1 set that fit - part number 8116010250 (the number you listed ends with 251 which probably means it is the same wheel - maybe a rear wheel or front wheel part number). The part number on my other set with a larger bolt pattern is 853601025A. I made the best of my mistake and drilled and tapped new holes in the rear drums to run the larger bolt pattern and the correct 4x100 bolt pattern on the front.

I wouldn't be concerned about the H&R spacers. Folks have used them on the rears of 911/930 cars for years. Heck, I can't imagine how many must've finished Daytona, Lemans, and Sebring over the years. If they can take 600 plus HP, and 11-13" slicks, I'm sure they are stong enough for an IT car.
