View Full Version : 15x6 inch wheels hard to find?

Is anyone else having this problem? Im very happy that I can run 15x6 or 14x6 inch wheels in ITB, but they are really hard to find, especially the 15x6. I would rather not go down the mini-lite or panasport road, since a set of four costs about the same as your average mortgage. Are there any good sources out there that dont cost an arm and a leg (and a contract with satan)?

What application so you need? Might be an OEM size from something that fits the bill...

You can walk into any pep boys and get a set of 14x6 alloys for about $50/each

This came up during the "should-we-or-shoudn't-we" conversations about the plus one rule. 15x6 wheels are going to be hard to find. I bought 14s.

Jake, you cant be serious about the Pep Boys thing.... Those wheels must weigh a ton and not be particularly strong. Have you used them for racing?

Actually Kirk, the more I look at it, the more 14x6 looks like the way to go.

I am. I think they are about 14lbs, and I'll bet they are stronger than the Kosei/Rota/etc. lightweights that many people use.

Discount tire has a bunch of 14x6 wheels in the $60/range.

And if you want the real trick setup, go to tirerack and get the Kosie T1-S. http://www.tirerack.com/images/wheels/kosei/swap/kosei_k1_ts_ci3_l.jpg

9.3 lbs each and $119/each. Just try to beat that!

That's what I got for the Golf - from TireRack. They are light enough though that you are entering the world of "wheel as consummable," and you'll need to check for cracks when you clean them after each race. We took 40 pounds(!) off of the golf by replacing the OE wheels with the Koseis.

Former ITB racer (Now GP) Bob Kelly picked up a set of those Pep Boy's specials for his VW. They actually look like pretty decent rims and they were cheap! If nothing else, they'd make great wheels for rains, or if you are worried about stresses, run them on the rear of a FWD car where they don't do anything.

Thats all well and good but find me that 15x6 rim that will fit my ITB Mustang with a 4 1/4 four bolt pattern and a 31/2 inch offset.
I just can't seem to find a good cost effective rim. I have one set that I had made by circle rims but at $200.00 a pop it hurts. Yes they are only 12 lbs. but I need more sets to propely heat cycle.

Can't you just get some Escort rims and some 1/4" spacers?

Diamond Racing wheels makes a 15x6 wheel that will fit the Mustang. The down side is that they are pretty heavy at 22 lbs. each. The upside is the price at $44 a wheel.

I report, you decide. http://ITForum.ImprovedTouring.com/smile.gif

Seriously though, if you run longer studs and spacers you can pick up OEM focus rims for a dime a dozen. (15x6, 108x4)

Yeah, I thought that the whole Mustang wheel issue was odd. Considering that they could come with 15x7 from the factory..... Anyway, the Pep Boys wheels look like a good option, but I would really worry about the strength. O.Z. makes the Superturismo GT in a 14x6 that sells for about 110-120 each. That might be worth a look. Advan also has a couple models that look good, the RC and the RG in particular. The RC comes in a 15x6 as well......

Anyway, considering that this car is probably going to be an EBay special, maybe I should see if I can track down some used Watanabes.....
