We have a Kevlar Bieffe F1GP that has been on the track once. It is a beautiful helmet that retailed for about $895, IIRC, in spotless condition.

We picked it up when the company was buying helmets by the "6 Pack", using industry parlance, for rentals and crash testing and received a substantial discount because it was a Snell SA95.

With the 2005s coming out it cannot be used for racing any longer. Any suggestions as to what we can do with it?

It should be legal for Solo II for another 5 years, IIRC.

Thanks Norm. We'll try that route.

Greg: GCR pg 105 says SA95's are good to go until 1/1/07.

I read an article a few years back on what to do w/ used helmets. Written by a semi-pro guy who listed off at least a dozen different ones he had.

He wrote that the best use he had found was to wear them while cutting down thisle & other thorny bushes.

Maybe there's a market for a stand so they can be used as planters on your front porch.

Their not strong enough to work as jack stands.

Hey, maybe we can squeeze a little life out of it!

I've donated a couple to the police for their training programs. It's also a tax write-off that way. Several tracks are involved in police (and other agency) training, and you can go thru people you might know at these tracks. (Two closest to me that I'm most familiar with are Summit Point and Beaver Run)

Here's another suggestion:

Go to a Pro event, such as a Speed GT and Touring weekend, and get a bunch of drivers to sign the helmet - clear coat it - and then raffle it off with the proceeds going to some race related cause (many come to mind, some of which were mentioned on this site).

That is a great idea. Thanks.
