I was wondering what other ITB people are seeing for fuel usage over a 30 minute sprint race.

I know it is differance depending on the track and car but I am looking for a base line.

Sorry it is for a ITB 77 BMW 320i.

I think my base line of 9 mpg or about 3 to 4 gallons for a 30 minute race wiht warm up etc.

Since my car is so close to the minimum wieght we use the fuel to ensure we stay over the minimum allowed. that being said over and over agian it always comes out to be 1lb per lap at NHIS and LRP. Both tracks about 1.5 miles. In the end that means that 7lbs (about 1 gallon) equals close to 10-11 miles per gallon. Yes I have the exact numbers for how much fuel weighs and the exact miles for each track but for this purpose I kept it simple. My car has always fallen in between 10-11 gallons and I think usually it was 10.4 miles per gallon.

I race an '82 BMW 320i, and from looking in my notebook, I averaged 3.5 to 4 gallons in 30min sprint races during the 2004 season.

Unlike Stephen, I am way overweight even with an empty tank, so I try to put in @4.5 to 5 gallons to factor in all-course yellows, black flags, etc and run her as close to empty at the end of the race as I can mentally handle. I've only run out of gas once, and that was in 2002 on the cool-down lap.
