How does one get a car number? It is probably in the rules and regs but I've not run across it yet. Just interested in how that process works, or, maybe it isn't that complicated for once?????

Call Jeff.

It is handled by the region and division, and there is a period of a time, sually a few months at the end of the year where you can request a reserved number.

Jeff will know the who and when!

Key-rect. You apply for a "permanent" number at www.sedivracing.com (http://www.sedivracing.com) in December I think. If you get it you have dibs on that number for the year. However, I never have gotten a permanent number and only when Miles Barefoot shows up do I have to change from my favorite (44) to something close (4 or 14 or 41) using "racer's tape."

I just want something obscure that nobody else wants, I'm not particular! An unloved number, lets see, what would that be?

Those seem boring. Anyone using them?

Depends where you're at. Cen-Div doesn't do reserved numbers anymore. Contact your division and see what they do.

With SM lumped in with us IT guys in MiDiv, EVERY number was claimed this year!!!

I didn't even worry about it this year with the new car. 72 was on it when I bought it and I haven't had to change it yet.

It's not what you build...
it's how you build it

You'd be surprised!!!

Go to http://www.sedivracing.org and click on "permanent numbers". We are in Group 4. You can see who had what for this year.

I am also waiting for December (or thereabouts) to see if the number that came with my car is "available".

Even if it is, if you run enduros your number has to be unique within that population. Do yourself a favor and either buy some extra numbers or some racer's tape.

CLARIFICATION: As I understand it, you don't HAVE to reserve a number. It's just when you go to sign up for an event, you get your "permanent" number (as long as you stay within the region or part of the region {some numbers are only for the "north" or "south" tracks in SE DIV. Check the website and you'll see what I mean}). If not, you get to choose from whatever's leftover. In the case of an enduro or other "multi-class" situation I believe it's first-come-first-served within those with the same "permanent" number.

At least this is what I've been told. Please feel free to correct me, as needed.
