Just about the time all you northern-latitude racers will be knee deep in snow and ice, yearning for some clean-track racing action, the smell of burned racing fuel and the sound of squealing tires, Speedweeks at Daytona will commence with the Rolex 24 hour endurance race. So, let's have some fun.

Part I, for current Isaac customers only:
We will order a fixed number of tickets and provide them to you at no charge. These aren't the Mickey Mouse grandstand seats, but the full-blown, four-day mega-passes (Advanced Paddock Tag) good for everything but the hot pits. This is our way of saying "Thank you!" for a great year.

Part II, for potential Isaac customers:
We are considering offering the same Rolex 24 passes as a gift to new customers if they order by a date to be determined.

This is for tickets only--transportation, room and board are on you. If the response is high enough, we may be able to arrange some sort of hospitality set-up at the track, although this could be difficult given the short notice. And don't believe any rumors claiming that I have a personal tab at all the track-side bars. Purchasing a round for the house and hollering, "Gregg buys!" won't cut it.

So, do you racers think this would be a worthwhile promotion?

(A note to existing customers: We have already determined how many passes we will give away. They will be distributed on a first-come-first-served basis as we receive replies to our e-mail offer. Please do not contact us ahead of time--check your inbox.)

Race details are here: http://www.daytonainternationalspeedway.com Click on "Events."

Legal disclaimer: Funds are not federally insured. Equal opportunity employer. No warranties are provided, expressed or implied. This is not an offer to sell nor a solicitation of an offer to buy. May cause side effects such as excessive grinning, ringing in the ears, hot flashes and a general sense of euphoria. Do not use with other medications without first consulting a physician. Quantities limited. Subject to change. Void where prohibited by law.

I've already started looking at the costs to fly down. If I can get the CENDIV schedule in short order and figure out my schedule/budget for next year, I'll be there! Just trying to figure out who to take with me...

Rather confident there, eh Bill? I can see you programming an autoreply function into your e-mail program:

if sender=*@isaacdirect.com and subject contains 'rolex'
then reply=yes
else delete http://Forums.ImprovedTouring.com/it/smile.gif

(Pardon my coding, I'm a bit rusty.)

Just for clarification, we are not giving passes to every current Isaac customer. That would be expensive. A fixed number will be distributed to first responders to our e-mail notice.

Then again, you are on our acknowledgements page. Hmm. Okay, we'll hold one for you.

I have to say that the Rolex 24 is one of the best tickets in racing. It is the first road race of the season, and many teams show just to tune for the Le Mans race. The world-wide television audience is huge, but no one is in the stands! Hotel rooms should be easy to find.

The Advanced Paddock Tags we are offering are for the full four day event (Thursday through Sunday), so if anyone wants to skip the preliminary races and do a little deep sea fishing, we can arrange that also.

Can't help you there. http://Forums.ImprovedTouring.com/it/wink.gif

Well, the entrance fee for the race is only $1100, so why don't we all just field a car? http://Forums.ImprovedTouring.com/it/biggrin.gif

Not sure that they'll accept my SCCA Regional license, though...

With the new SGS rules, we could buy a Viper from chrysler, put Eric Curran, Woodie Weiss, and a couple of recent X-SCCA IT racers in, and win our class...All for less than a couple of years running a BMW in ITS http://Forums.ImprovedTouring.com/it/wink.gif

Greg,

I think that you should have one more rule for the free tickets. Everyone that goes and uses the free tickets must bring there helmet and offer it to the drivers racing in the event so they can try out your device. This will surly be more benificial to your product and sales.

And say you bring 50 helmets to field at the event for people to try out during practice sessions, qualifying or even the race. I'm sure someone would tell the Televisor of the event and I 'm sure you could get a few minutes of faim since it is safety that you are promoting. TV loves that kind of stuff! And since it is world wide why wouldn't you want that free advertising!

Hmm. Yeah, we could our customers to work! http://Forums.ImprovedTouring.com/it/wink.gif

But what about new buyers? Would it be enough for them to swing the decision our way?

I would say at the very least you are going to get a ton of exposure. There is no way that you couldn't get yourselfon TV to promote safety. especially if your letting people try it out. I would say that if you even had ten loaner helmets and even 30 people got to try it out you'll at least sell one and get the exposure you need. NAtional/Worldwide television that hits your market directly..... seems like a win win and another win situation.... for the people that already own the helmets with free tickets, the drivers that get to try it, and yourself with actual demo models and publicity! Teh demographics of the market is pretty large so I'm sure you will need to prepare for all types of questions and phone calls. Be ready for them since this the first impression will be important to any new customers. Make sure you have everyhing copyrighted as well. It would be terrible for a larger company to take credit for your hard work. From what I ahve heard your device is as good as any other for much less money. If you personally feel it compaires to the other devices that drivers in the Rolex will be wearing then do it, it can only bring exposure and eventually exposure is what yields sales. Jsut think if you spend a grand on tickets and you do get your 30 sec interview...... how much money have you already gained. The cost to have a 30 sec. add on TV is worth tens of thousands more!

Good points, all of them.

Thanks for the compliments about the product. As far as the intellectual property rights (patents) go, that's already covered--big time.

It will be more $ than that, easily. The real question is whether new customers would show up if the tickets were offered as a promotion. It's interesting that no one has commented on that.

We will be working the track to get in front of every camera there, but we will not ask customers to be our sales people. For them, it is supposed to be fun. There are no strings attached.

This isn't so much a business thing as it is a token of our appreciation for customers who did their homework and chose to purchase an Isaac system. That means a lot to us. Any nitwit can buy a HANS device just because their buddy has one, but we are constantly impressed with how new customers have thought everything through and realized that the Isaac is clearly the best purchase. So much so, in fact, that our new graphics will include the line "For the Head Worth Keeping." I love that.

Thanks for the ideas, Stephen. You ought to come down for the Rolex.

So who went, how was it! Unfourtunatly I did not get to see much of the race so any updates you guys have would be awsome. Did anyone run with the Issac? Iwill certainly be looking into it this year as funds become available. I think my Brother Father and I will be looking into it as the most important go fast investment we make this year http://Forums.ImprovedTouring.com/it/smile.gif Confidence and Security always make people better!

PS: did everyone stay at least partially dry!

There were about 15 of us, after a couple had to drop out at the last minute. Total attendance, which probably included the teams, was announced at 70,000.

Most everyone agreed that the racing was good and the weather was lousy. Personally, I have always liked the Rolex because it is the first big race of the season, and racers and hardcore fans who have been going cold turkey for two months come out of hibernation from everywhere. A lot of languages were spoken.

Speed TV will probably show a summary, but here's what I noticed:

- Wheels were falling off--they should use ringnuts.
- 21 & 22 ran hard but broke.
- 86 and 17 were doggin' it, but finished.
- A lot of very good drivers.
- Stock car guys ran surprisingly well.

Grand Am is part of the NASCAR family, so they use the NASCAR list of "approved" products which includes only the HANS and Hutchens devices. Some folks have told us they saw Isaac systems in use, but we didn't spot them. Maybe the rules changed.

Given that we provided tickets to customers who were probably getting absolutely soaked, I hesitate to post that I am very glad I upgraded my ticket to the International Pavilion Club hospitality tent. It was a large tent with heat, carpeting, tables, chairs, food service, bar, two big-screen TVs and scoring monitors. Outside was a reserved parking area and seating at the east horseshoe.

A few of us hung out there and would watch the race on Speed TV in the tent during the downpours, then dash into the stands when it let up.

I did, I did http://Forums.ImprovedTouring.com/it/smile.gif Thanks big time to Gregg and IsaacDirect. Super fun experience and very well worth the trip. The exiting tire thing was strange, seemed to be happening around the same time. The #10 Pontiac was (to me) very impressive and I have to think it was the fastest car out there. The PTG cars too seemed to be really getting on it. The loopy #45 car (whomever was driving it around 6 o'clock I guess) was just short of comical. Oh and those Masarattis sounded so cool.

Again, big thanks to IsaacDirect and what a damned cool idea.
