I got a email tonight asking to update my credit card info and this
is normal for Paypal users every once in awhile. I clicked on the
link to update and filled out all the required info until I got to
the bottom of the page and it asked for my SSN, DOB, CC number with
the CVV off the back, bank routing number off my check and my ATM PIN
number. I thought this was weird as they had never asked for this
stuff before and noticed that the URL was http:// and all Paypal
sites are https://. I remembered reading this on a Paypal site
before.

Had I not noticed this, right now all of my personal info would be in
the hands of who knows...

PLEASE BE CAREFULL!!!

I called Paypal and they were very nice. They said there are many of
these scams going around, and people are getting ripped for thousands
of dollars instantly. Much of it is not recoverable. Definately not
if you use a Debit card as I do, there is no safety features as most
CCs have. They said they will investigate it so I forwarded the email
to them. (hope it was really them, lol)

Be sure to look for the "s" on the URL and another susicious thing
was the fact that the email came as a .gif attatchment, but the .gif
was a nice professional looking "Paypal" email. There was some odd
text under it that you had to highlight and drag to see, it was about
some weather in Brazil, so this may have come from overseas.

Hope I can save someone from making the same mistake I almost did
tonight.

Britt

That's right. Don't make it easy on the jokers. Never ever update any account information on anything by using an email you receive. Always go directly to the webpage, log in, and make your changes there.

I've heard (may have even received) similar spoofs trying to get my eBay account PW.

Basically, if it's asking for personal info via email, delete delete delete.
