It's a month away - who all is going to be there?

We'll have the '94 SC2 there, with a pretty good sized crew.

Also, don't forget about the test day on Friday the 29th:

I've been thinking about that one. Anyone have any scoop on the track and facilities? I haven't been west of the lake yet, and this summer it will probably be Autobahn or Road America.

Kevin, I have not looked at the Chicago Region site. Has the track been SCCA blessed. Is this a go event. There has been a Midwestern Counsel race there a month or so ago. I was there two weeks ago for a little show & tell for the SCCA Formula car. Two writters from Formula Car mag & several Autobahn members took the car for a ride.

Marty, I whimped on the S.B. Region double because the rear suspensin was not complete. Going today to get welding completed. Will do the test day & the Farm July 9th & 10th then the test day (if cost within reason) & Autobahn July 30th & 31st if the show is a go.

Yes, to te best of my knoledge, the track is blessed, and it is a go event. They have changed it from a single regional to a double regional.

$205 for the test day @ Autobahn. Right now we're figuring that we should be able to get everyone at least 3 hours of track time (that's the goal).

David,

The supps/entry are on the Chicago Region web site (http://www.scca-chicago.com). Yes, the track has SCCA approval and the event is a go. We are running the north track (same one Council ran a few weeks ago). For track info, see http://www.autobahncountryclub.net.

Any questions, just holler.

Do you know if there's a half-day rate?

Kevin Coulter, thanks for the info. Off to the Chicago Region site.

Two questions:

A. Half day test day rate ?

B. Best cheapest (country cheap, not Chicago cheap) motel in area ?

It is not a spectator race in the sense that anyone can come in. You need to be a driver/worker/on someone's crew list/guest list to get in. Do keep in mind that Autobahn members will be using the south track, so I expect we'll get some spectating of our races.

Regarding the test day, the track is rented by Saturn club, so Kevsc1 would have a better idea if there is a half day rate, etc.

Regarding motels, I've heard that the motel 6 off of I-80 has reasonable rates and isn't bad. I have no personal experience though. In addition to the motel list on autobahn's web site (http://www.autobahncountryclub.net), might want to check out Chicagoland Speedway's web site for a motel list. (http://www.chicagolandspeedway.com). Autobahn is a few miles due west of the NASCAR track.

Autobahn's web site has an in car video of the north track made last year. It also has a map showing exact measurements of the track.

Hope this helps,
Kevin

Too bad you guys have to compete with the double regional at Mid Ohio that same weekend. I'd love to try out a new track but honestly, I've got one of the best tracks in the country that weekend 45 minutes from my house. http://ITForum.ImprovedTouring.com/wink.gif

A. Half day test day rate ?

Unfortunatly, we are not able to offer a 1/2 day rate. However, it is looking at this time like there will be PLENTY of track time for everyone.

1) I probably can't get there before noon.
2) I'm too old to survive that much track time. http://ITForum.ImprovedTouring.com/smile.gif

Kevin M. Keller, some of us are required to work to pay for our racing. I can do a 1/2 half day. Sometimes it's better to get some $$$ rather than none.

ps: Marty, for this race you don't need to travel through Chicago. http://ITForum.ImprovedTouring.com/smile.gif http://ITForum.ImprovedTouring.com/wink.gif Easy track to get to. See ya there.

The track? nice. Facilities? very nice. Racing? ITS looked to have a good battle. ITA - we were 51 seconds up Sat, and were 57 seconds up on Sunday before 2nd place pulled into the pits with a blown motor.

I was too busy thrashing on the car to watch the other races, but I heard from some of our folks that there was lots of excitement in turn 2 during other races.
