I heard that the labor day race at AMS is going to be moved to Roebling. Anybody know anything?

That's an unsubstantiated rumor. We're still planning on AMS - but understand that the track was hit by a tornado a few weeks ago. We should know something definitive by this weekend.

Atlanta Region will hold the Labor Day race at AMS as originally scheduled. Look for details soon on www.atl-scca.org (http://www.atl-scca.org)

I realize AMS is a roval. Anybody got a road course layout of AMS?

Are they still gonna run that goofy backwards track layout?

It will run exactly as last year's layout - it's the one approved by National.

That's not an up to date drawing, but it is relatively close. The oval was altered to resemble Lowes a few years back. What is pictured in the drawing as the back straight is now the front bend. The infield road course is a little bit shorter because of changes made when the oval was altered.

I'll see if I can locate the more recent drawing.

Atlanta Region regretfully announces that the September 2-5 Double SARRC event at Atlanta Motor Speedway will not be held due to our inability to staff the event in compliance with the GCR.

Hey, Bob. How about a little more information? This decision affects a lot of people and if you tell them why the decision was made, they may be able to understand why. Otherwise, we're all just mad and left wondering why. For instance, why didn't the region send out a mass plea for corner workers? I can think of several local drivers who would have considered volunteering.

I've been busting my butt and spending lots of money to get ready for the last opportunity to get SARRC points before the SIC. I'm sure there are many people in the same situation and would appreciate some details, at the least.

Also, is the SARRC Committee considering changes to the SARRC schedule or points rules (i.e., count best of x races")?

Bob,

What's the scoop here? Why not send out a call for help before cancelling the whole thing? Makes no sense and it will be even harder to run this event next year.

Here's one interpretation of why AMS was cancelled, by Butch Kumer.
