The entry form for the Dbl SARRC is up. Two things of interest.

1. Races will start from the start finish line in the tri-oval and will finish at the stripe in front of timing and scoring. Sound familiar?

2. All races will use the new "short" chicane (bus stop).

Thought these were things worth metioning

Neither sounds familiar to me.
I know where T&S is, and I hope somebody reminds me to keep racing AFTER T-1.
But what's the "short" chicane?

I haven't raced at Dayona since....May 2000.
Thanks,
Michael

The new "short" chicane starts at the same place, but exits back on to the backstrech, rather than directly into NASCAR turn 3.

It's probably a good thing in the long run, as I do recall to touchy moments in May coming hard out the the chicane. That "little dip" at the exit gets severely pronounced when your standing hard on the gas trying to maximize your exit speed.

This will probably reward the higher HP cars just a bit, at the expense of the lower HP, momentum type cars. However, since it's new to all of us, I think the drivers that adapt the quickest will have the advantage. Moreso than any particular car type.

You boys have fun. I'm gonna skip Daytona and concentrate on fishing. About the same frustration level in fishing as dealing with parking and the BS the Speedway people put us thru.

Just getting tired of it all I guess.

Catch you later

Mike

Or just getting old, maybe? http://Forums.ImprovedTouring.com/it/wink.gif http://Forums.ImprovedTouring.com/it/wink.gif

Maybe you'd get less BS from them if you showed up with a simple truck/trailer combo like us po folk, instead of the big ole Love Shack on wheels!!! http://Forums.ImprovedTouring.com/it/biggrin.gif

I am pretty sure I know the answer to my question is no , but , is there a track day or practice day at Daytona? I learned my lesson the hard way at Homestead when you practice/qualify the first time you hit the track and on top of that you are responsible for staying out of the way of the 50 or 60 ITA and ITS cars that are out there with you.
I have done ok racing in my first full year but my low point was sliding through the grass backwards at Homestead at about 100mph off the far straight because someone told me I should take that transition turn flat out. Maybe its' just me but it is a great advantage to be able to drive a track in a pure practice type situation and have the opportunity to work on braking points etc. I am not talking about a lot of laps but 4 or 5 would make all the difference in the world. Don't get me wrong I will be back at Homestead in September and I am confident I will not have the same problem again ( at least not at the same turn) but, it would make me personnally much faster if I could practice where I race like we can at Sebring or Moroso. Unless something changes I guess I will have to suck it up and take my lumps the first time I race a track like I am sure all of you experienced guys may have in the past.
Thanks

Jim,

There are no track days at Daytona.

Jim,

Unfortunately we do not have test days at Daytona. However, your first session on Saturday morning is practice only, your second session is for qualifying. Be ready to go when your group gets on the track and you should be able to get 4-5 laps of "practice" before the pressure is on.

For those of you who have noticed that the finish line is in front of Timing and Scoring, the Checker flag will be displayed there. So you can stop racing when you see the flag.

I had a great time at Daytona this past weekend and it looks like ITA has some new fresh blood. Can't wait to do it again http://Forums.ImprovedTouring.com/it/biggrin.gif

Does anyone have the results from Sunday's Group 4 race? They never posted them before I left. ...not that I'm the top 4 but would like know where I finished.
