Damn, the ITS, ITA, and ITB records all fell by 0.5, 0.7, and 0.5 respectively. That's some real impressive times.

I have to say that I'm also a little surprised that a Miata won ITA. Wow, good job by him.

Sorry I missed it - looked like a good time.

I am not sure why everyone is surprised at my Miata winning. If you look at what the Spec Miatas have been doing at most tracks they are not that far off the ITA times.

some comparisons: nhis ITA 1:16
SM 1:18
limerock ITA 1:02
Sm 1:03

the ARRC ITA 1:43
SM 1:45
people are probably surprised since it has not been peoples choice for a ITA car. time and development have made the car fast.its human nature to be surprised by something that is not the norm. congrats on the results you have produced. i must say that it is a strange feeling when people knock the car that you bring to the track.a trip to the arrc and a tear down would quiet the critics, but thats alot to do to change peoples minds.good luck with the car

Lot's of factors conspiring for the Miata win...I talked with Bret at some legnth on Tuesday about it as we have a definite interest in teaming up with other development programs on the ITA Miata...

The Miata is a good bit faster in the corners while the HondAcuras have a good bit more power down the straight. Also keep in mind the fact it was a what, 4-5 lap race?

It is eye opening to some up here where the Acura's dominate but they have to understand that tracks like NHIS are point and shoot tracks with limited momentum opportunities compared to some tracks that flow better.

Just gotta find more power...

Rick I think that since we have figured out the Spec Miatas more and more each year this has helped. As for RA I have thought about going but really need more HP for that track. I will be honest with everyone here my car is putting out only 125 RWHP and needs another 10 to be fast at RA.

I don't think the miata was that underpowered, I also don't think the 4-5 lap race had a lot to do with it. This should be what racing was about, Bret, Ray and I all drove an excellent race, we demonstrated skill and competitive racing without the slamming and banging that everyone expects. It was also a situation were the three of us stood in inpound, swapped stories and shared some comradary. There was no "cheater" mindset or how come the car is so fast. The car was fast because the driver was fast. If some of the drivers put as much effort put into improving driver skills as looking for infractions and loopholes they would be in victory circle.

No one needs to tell me that the Miata's can be competitive in ITA. I got very close and personal with Bowie Gray's ITA Miata at the ARRC last year. We were swapping spots sometimes as many as 3 times a lap. I could pretty much pass him at will down the backstretch but he could put his car anywhere he wanted to in the twisties. It was a blast running with him, eventhough he ended up beating me. I know that he didn't even have a crazy built engine in the car. So yea, I think if you take a good driver in a well built Miata, and you've absolutely got something.

I agree with you Tom 100% It was a little bit hard for me not having run with any of you guys before. That makes it hard to no what to expect as driving goes but you guys where great. I know of a lot of drivers that do not make the effort to improve on their driving but will make excuses instead.

It was fun racing with all you guys at the front, I surprised myself in qualifying and got 3rd, it was my first time at the Glen. Tom and Brett, I have some awesome video of you guys battling in front of me the first few laps, and one time going through the right hander onto the front straight where Brett had the car in a full drift at apex lol. I had to check up, thats when Ray and Lorenzo got by, but awesome save! I still have a lot to learn as I am a rookie, but you guys set a good example running close but clean at the front, and it was great chatting with you guys in impound afterwards.

The new site is nearing completion. One of the features will be a place where we can load images and videos. This is the kind of thing we'll want to save!

Ahhhh! I think your car has enough juice to do pretty well at RA. There are enough twisty bits there to make up for the lack of HP but who cares about all that stuff anyway. Just go to the big show and have some fun man. http://ITForum.ImprovedTouring.com/smile.gif
