The big news out of last night's Club Racing Meeting is the 2005 schedule. This is reasonably firm, but by no means official. If I have a few details wrong, forgive me - Dick or Brian can correct any errors.

Apr 15-17: School and regional, NHIS

May 6-7: School and regional, LRP

July 9-10: Double regional, NHIS

July 30-31: Regional, WGI (You read that right! Hosted by Glen Region, this will be a NERRC and NYSRRC points race.)

Aug 27-28: Regional and enduro, NHIS

Sept 10-11: Double regional, NHIS

Sept 16-17: NARRC Runoffs, LRP (Why so early? Apparently LRP is holding the traditional early October dates for a potential second Busch North race.)

Remember the school (more of a track day) for non-racers at LRP before a 3 hr enduro? Is that also being held in 2005?

I have a friend who's pretty interested and I was telling him about it the other day.

Thanks,
Diane

ps - thanks for posting the schedule, nice to see it so early this year! http://Forum.ImprovedTouring.com/it/smile.gif

WGI... Nice!

I would think long both days since it's not a double and a NERRC and NYSRRC event?????

[edit]I can't wait to see the NARRC and NYSRRC schedule.

Unforutnately IT7 is not a MARRS class. IT7 was talked about last year among the ITA rx7 guys but they never made the attempt to get the class established.

sigh.....

oh well, another slaughtering in ITA is in my future...

If I understand correctly, an ITA RX-7 is most certainly illegal if entered as a Spec7, correct?

The the WDC Region the specs are posted. Sometimes the stewards have to yell at them http://Forum.ImprovedTouring.com/it/wink.gif for bump drafting etc

We are in desperate need of another track! I know I am preaching to the choir, but there are just too many race at NHIS. I am excited about the glen though. This should be a great race!

The tracks are out there. You just have to travel a little to get to them. Here's my tentative plan for '05. VIR, Summit, Mid Ohio, The Glen, NHIS, LRP and Road Atlanta. Haven't figured out in what order as yet. NHIS will be for the enduro weekend and LRP will be for the NARCOFFS(if the price is right http://Forum.ImprovedTouring.com/it/smile.gif)

Ray, let's compare schedules soon; yours is close to mine.

I have specific goals set for '05, and they include at least one event at each of the tracks you listed. I'd like to hit VIR but the two distance is daunting; figure at least 11 hours each way (it was about 10 hours driving home in my Audi last month). This year the local region had a Regional the weekend or two before the ARRC Runoffs; if that happens again this year we might try to schedule it such that we tow down to VIR, run that event as a testing session, then leave the equipment there and pick it up on the way to Road Atlanta.

Mid-Ohio? Dunno, depends on when and what life looks like at the time; that's another 10+ hour tow. Glen, LRP, NHIS definitely; Pocono, probably.

Another event you might consider adding is the NASA/Hyperfest, usually July 4th weekend, at Summit. Crowds, activities, decent racing, and lots of eye candy...

Eye candy is good for at least a 1.5 decrease in lap times.

I'm hoping to get some NER people to go down for the Summit MARRS double on labor day weekend. I went down there with MR2 Jake last year and had an absolute blast! The event is packed and evening festavities are great. O.k. Really packed. It was also nice being so close to DC for those "crew" such as wife and friends who can't deal with three days of racing fun. Even my wife really enjoyed the event.

Any interest? I've got it marked on my calendar for next year.

Greg A- I haven't come up with a solid plan yet but hitting up those tracks for a premier event would be ideal. U right. Mid O may be a little out of reach.
Dave- That's what we're talking about. Keep me posted. I'm in.

Greg A.....there is a race at Mid-O 4th of July weekend. Gives you Monday to travel. It is always a well attended event(@300 cars) and the TC Corvette group is usually there. We in the Cincy Region would welcome you.

Dave's right. The 4th of July event is always a great weekend at Mid-Ohio despite the tow (970 miles from Maine). Although with In-laws nearby it becomes a full week vacation. I will be there again this year, with three others from NER. Anyone want to join us and caravan out for an NER event.

Need a new track?...
edit, add link to website:
http://www.njmotorsportspark.com/

One is in the works in South Jersey called Thunderbolt Raceway. I happened drive the IT car in a parade in Millville on the 26th and happened to talk to a few people involved in the project. Looks like two of the three major hurdles have been jumped... the town of Millville is loving the idea, and the Delaware Port Authority has approved the plans... now just the FAA is left.

Keep in mind this shouldn't be delayed like Roush Creek. The guys who are building this project are the same guys who resurected VIR.

Keep your fingers crossed!

I always thought NERRC stood for New
England Road Racing Championship not North East road Racing Championship. I think if we keep expanding to other tracks then either NARRC or NERRC need to go and just have 1 series with more races in it. The NARRC series rules are great and if we just add races but not the amount of "keepers" then the competition would get much closer for the title. By keepers I mean the total number of races that count toward points, currently the best 8.

I'm stoked we have the event at WGI - just wish we got NAARC points racing there. For anybody who hasn't run the Glenn before, it's arguably the best track in the North East.

Cheers,

deleted - answered my own silly question.

Or maybe not. When is the Glen event? It was moved to 7/23 & 7/24, correct? At least that is what I see on the NE Division schedule.
