Pig Roast July 17 & 18

Are we having the scouts cook us up some real pig or will it be BBQ pulled pig again?

The "Scouts" never did cook the pigs.

Yes, they helped dig the pits one year, and helped with lots of other work, but for the last 20 or so years it had been mostly the same group of Fire/Rescue and F&C workers who have done all of the work. And a lot of work it is, considering the logistics of getting everything up there to get the job done. Work actually starts weeks before the event.

I am told they mostly got tired of doing all the work and having very few people say thank you. Yea, the RE and Comp Board Chair would, and a few of the other "Officials", but very few drivers or crew ever went to say thank you.

I've only been on the crew 6 or 7 times, and helped dig the pits 3 or 4 of them. Most folks don't have a clue on how much work it is to dig a 30x5 foot pit in the Bryar rocks when it is 92 in the shade, or during a thunder storm, like a few years ago.

Does anyone know if we will be running the Nascar oval both days or will we be swapping paint and watching our temp gueages rise on the infield section?

I personally love the 2 chicane combo. I think the south chicane is actually much better than the north chicane. I'm not sure but I would think we actually had less incidents when we ran with both chicanes than without. Speed are a bit slower and it is slower/safer going into turn 3. I am very excited I can't wait!! I thinkit isalso cool becasue it gives us a little varitey.

Well, MUCHO THANKS to all involved in the organizing, cooking, and serving. It is a real treat to go race that weekend and have a good dinner on Sat nite. Maybe us participants just didn't know who to thank.
So! Is it real pig or BBQ pulled pig from a barrel for next week? Either way, I'm there.

I Really didn't care for the south chicane thing last year. It sorta takes away from the only real exciting part the track. This time around we should be able to do much better with the new xxxxxx and the new xxxxx in the car. http://Forum.ImprovedTouring.com/it/smile.gif We'll just have to wait and see.

I never got to try the south side but It could be intresting but I 2 like the speed going in turn three threshold braking rocks. When it works oh yea last year.

The clouds opened just before our race, but went back and forth a bit. On grid the sun came out and we thought that we had made the wrong choice to go with the intermediates... everyone seemed to be laughing... but in the end everyone was certainly saying good choice!!! I think that if we didn't have the black flag all and lap traffic played a role my brother and I might have been able to hold of Mr. Carlson. Scott was on dry tires... what a run for him, great driving. The track was just dry enough that he could still manage with dry's as long as he was on-line. All in all very fun putting it a bit sideways in a few turns.

My brake caliper fell apart causing lots of wheel lock… Not sure why I even had brakes at all. All the bolts appear to be missing that hold the cage on??? Weird, to say the least. I had an "off-track" experience and though it might just be dirt in the brakes... oh well, it lasted the race is all that matters.
