Here is the link to see how many and even who exactly will be racing in each race group! I think it is pretty cool that you can actually view who is preregistered in each group! Can't wait to see all of you!
It's getting closer cna closer every day!

I can't pre-register at this point, the system recognizes me but wont let me log on... but because it recognizes me it also wont let me make a new sign in name http://Forum.ImprovedTouring.com/it/frown.gif so I am out of luck. I have contacted the web person and he has been trying to fix it for me.

As far as racing... humm we want to go to the first event but not sure if the cars will be ready. some key parts like shocks and brakes as well as forgot we needed to get a physical might become an issue. As far as all the rest of the NARRC and NERRC races this yeat slight $$$ issues I think might come into play and we will be choosing our races accordingly.

for this first race we will register but don't count on us until we actually show up http://Forum.ImprovedTouring.com/it/frown.gif If anyone wants to sponsor the 2003 NARRC 1st and 2nd place ITB cars let me know http://Forum.ImprovedTouring.com/it/wink.gif

Raymond

PS: Anyone know of a doctor that will give a physical last minute... will travel http://Forum.ImprovedTouring.com/it/wink.gif

Brothers Blethen!

Oh no you don't !! I have spent considerable sums of time and money over the winter preparing to do battle with a couple of Audi's this Spring. And now because of a couple of last minute snafoo's (doctor's appointments and silly things like brakes and shocks??) you may miss this first race?? I am shocked to say the least !!!!

Or,..............is this the ultimate sandbag attempt?? Make us all think that we may have a shot at being a "front runner" rather than our normal "mid packer" status???

Cruel Shoes. Very Cruel Shoes.

I, for one, am certain, that we will see you in April - at Loudon - in your Audi's! The disease is way too deep to have it any other way!

Alan,
So looks like the garage is done?????
Good to see you will be playing this year. Will Mary Kate and Ashley be attending??

Blethen Brothers,
Don’t feel bad my slacker co-driver just got the car from Connecticut yesterday and it still needs a windshield, belts, oil, coolant, tires, brakes, Annual inspection…and probably a bunch of other things that I “forgot” to do prior to leaving. Plus he had to fix the tow vehicle. BUT EVEN HE REGISTERED.
If he can get to the first race you guys had better make it. What you live like 5 minutes from the track?????? You have Force5 in you backyard…
But I think Alan is right you may be scared.

Have fun and be safe

We are not scared.... you VW are "farfromaudi" !!!

We will likely be their, especially with all this talk. Also with people like Alen coming back from a year off and Tim M's new car attemt to beat an Audi with a VW... Matt and Eli's bets still need to be broken... We have to go!!! Even if we need to stay up all night working on the cars the last week before the race... thats the Blethen way. Not sure if I will have a quaiffe or what sort of suspension Stephen will be racing in... good thing is we have a couple cars in the driveway we can pull apart http://Forum.ImprovedTouring.com/it/smile.gif Not race stuff and probably blown shocks struts, but we are likely to run like that before we go without racing. Brakes and tires are another issue... big $$$.

Anyone know where to find brake pads for these cars (that will handle racing) at less than $150 a set?

also on the physical issue... walk in clinic... wich one? mine doesn't do that I don't think... can you just walk in and ask for a physical??? I know nothing about the rip off of a doctors world... please advize!!!

Raymond "running out of time" Blethen

TimM ITB

Raymondo me boy;

I, too, know nothing of the doctor world "thang", but I do know that a Nurse Practicioner can give you a physical as well as an MD, so that may give you more flexibility in terms of scheduling an appointment. Also, don't forget that when sending in your application for license renewal at this "late date" that you will probably need to check the box (and pay the money - sorry !) for expiditing your license through quickly.

good luck !!

Raymond,
I would highly suggest you give the "walk-in center" a quick call before going there. It might make things easier for both of you if you fax-in the SCCA physical document before getting there.

Why do you need brakes and pads? Never knew you actually used them anyways...

Raymond,
I got two years out of a set of Hawk Blue on a 2800lbs 944. I probably could have gotten another year if I hadn't sold it. (Of course I wasn't exactly a front runner........) Never had a problem with rotors and they did just as well on the first turn of a race as they did the last.

The cost about $110 for the 944 and $90 for the GTi.

Last year we had 153 entrants at this event. This year we are at 99 so far which seems pretty well since we still have until APRIL 10TH to preregister without a late fee. I think Dick or several others will no this but how many cars do we need to get at NHIS to "Brake even".

Like someone said earlier... great turnout of IT cars!

several others will __know__ this

The __break__ even number depends on if you count the school or not as a weekend package. There are a number of expenses that change from day to day and the actual break even number can only be determined after the event.

If you want to know more, go to the regions comp board meetings where the comptroller goes over all the numbers in great detail.

Last years numbers were distributed at the annual meeting, IIRC.

I just wanted to thank the people who responded to my "physical" issue...

The PMA where my doctor’s is located has a walk in clinic, but they do not do physicals, they only take care of sick people. However the hospital was great in passing me around to different people, I think in an effort to not help me. They even called me back and told me someone else to call when I left them messages. Finally I called a lovely lady in a soon to be doctors office who then put me on hold and found someone currently at the hospital who could do my physical ASAP, she was unimpressed that other people with the same capability forwarded me to her. Anyway she is getting a nurse practitioner to do it tomorrow afternoon. I think the first people I talked to were scared of the document (I can race waiver) that needed to be signed so they just jumped me around.

Anyway thanks to everyone for their input in making sure I have no excuses... now all I need to do is get this on-line pre-registration fixed and get Topeka to process my license ASAP...

This isn't a link to an in-car video, but just a set of shots/pictures I took from my camera and put in order. It does show what the track looks like. It is the first lap of an ITB/ITS race from April 15, 2000. I think you will find it somewhat comical. Maybe I should send a copy of the tape to someone who can make it into a on-line video!!!

I think that this lap would be a great one for the history books, as their is an incident in just about every turn. I think I gained half the field by default that day http://Forum.ImprovedTouring.com/it/smile.gif

Don't know how things will work out, my motor is tired, needs a rear main seal (and hopefully not a clutch) and we finally killed our tires from 2002.

The XR3 is gutted but I think our winter rivaled yours this year so that's it. We're still playing catch up on all the stuff we (I?) "ignored" on my beater till it got warmer. Oh, and I took the studs off last night so it should snow again soon, sorry about that!

OK where are all the NE guys/gals??? Working on the cars??? No posts with updates??? 2 days!!!

Jeff-

I tried to get a digital with the paper and the date.. It didn't come out http://Forum.ImprovedTouring.com/it/frown.gif The cars don't look much different than when those pictures were taken (2 days ago) but I have been working each night re-wiring my car after the eletrical fire at the Glen last year that took out all the wiring... Man this re wiring stuff is a lot of work to do right. Anyway it is coming along hopefully this weekend we will have made much better visual progress. We are much like the old Dave Patten and the car will get finished at the track the day of the race!!! LOL

Andy-

Stephens car wont be painted (it will be primer) and we will likely get in trouble at tech and he will have to paint it for the next race (last year I got in trouble).
My car on the other hand, had very little body damage last year (believe it or not!!!) so no body work is getting done on that one for the first race.

Hope everyone is gearing up!!! This year should be lots of fun, with IT continuing to grow in numbers and level of competition.
