Wow...that's alot of prep in a few short weeks. Looks good.

One of the great things about running in ITS, even in a car that may not be the most competitive, is there will always be a lot of cars to race with since it will easily run with some of the other "lower" class IT cars in your group. One of my best races ever was against an extremely fast front running ITB (Chris Albin) several years ago.

And who knows? You may have found the ultimate ITS sleeper.

I've also kept track of my costs to date too. It isn't dirt cheap, but a lot cheaper than a BMW!!!!

WOW...you need to put a big ol' eBay logo on it as an associate sponsor http://Forum.ImprovedTouring.com/it/wink.gif

Keep posting the development

You need to call Chris Schimmel in Hillsborough about getting a cage built. Don't get too detail oriented until that's done because your going to mess things up in the process of getting it together...

Looking cool!

K, Jeff Yound suggested the same so a couple of weeks ago I called him. I'm on his schedule for late Sept.

Uh oh... you sold your washer bottle!!!

Looks good! If that's Rustoleum on the interior, keep some touch up paint for after the cage is done. The UV light from the arc will change the color slightly.

Actually, no washer bottles on the 74 J-H's. How about that.

Ron's got some more pictures from today's activities, which involved the engine coming out. Much progress, we hope to have the car on track for March Memories 05 at VIR.

I have it labeled as a washer bottle but I didn't know what it was. Turned out it was the catch can for the radiator. There are not jets, bottle, or button for a washer system and as far as I can tell many JHs in 73-74 did not have them, but 75s definitely did.

Jeff Young and Ed Palombo came over this weekend to do some dirty work on the Jensen - lowering the front subframe and engine. Wasn't that bad! The entire thing is held in with four bolts so once you disconnect the clutch, wiring, etc. you're home free. Here are some pics of the motor coming out and then sitting on the dolly in front of one of the Esprits, a car that uses the exact same motor only turbocharged!

Great pics! We love pics here!

So who are the players? Is that Jeff sans facial hair? And just how many Esprits do you own?? (I guess having a 'parts car' is a good idea with any UK car! Har...har...! Kidding!

I for one want a tour of your garage...that car in teh background looks cool for instance!

Jeff has no fuzz, Ed has fuzz. The green Lotus is mine, the black Lotus is Jeff's. Ed's 911S is out of the picture but the grey car is my GT40 that is under construction. It is made by Roaring Forties, a good GT40 replica company in Australia that you can find here:

http://www.roaringforties.com.au/

The GT40 isn't finished, but coming along nicely. Powered by a stroker Ford SB that I built with Webers, it'll run like a scalded dog, which I'm told is pretty fast.

I am told a raped ape is a tad quicker, with more torque....

I hope you have better luck with your Webers than I'mcurrently having with mine on my 911...

The car is looking great. I think we need to come up with some Team Oddball T-shirts. http://Forum.ImprovedTouring.com/it/smile.gif

JeffYoung

Cherokee, how about:

Team Oddball:

Are We Brave, or Are We Stupid?

I'm in. Ron would be in. Ed Forrest and his AMC Spirit would be in.

Ron Earp

In on that! We need a logo, anyone artistic?

For the logo my wife suggested a loose screw. I told her that I don't know how to draw that, but I could do a nice empty wallet.

I think something with the different MFG logos would be cool.

Cherokee (what's your name by the way), let's go with this Team Oddball idea. Screw loose logo with some geeky guy on it sounds good to me.

Ron, let me know when you get back in town. I'm around this weekend and can spend a few hours on the Jensen-Healey if you are in town and working.

Ron, good deal. I'm back from a mini-business trip.

You around Saturday a.m.? I could pop by and pay you for the gauge, pick up the exhaust and take a look at the Jensen-Healey progress.

Let me know when you want to haul it over to Schimmel's for the cage.

The logo reminds me of when I used to teach junior high school shop class.

"Why won't this stay together, Mr. Knestis?"

Love it!

If you want to make something like that for some logos, t shirts, and stickers I know a fellow here in Raleigh that I've used for this stuff for years. Good prices and I'm sure we might could get a deal given the topic - he likes cars a lot too, just a little different than us.

Well, some more progress!

I've redone the entire front suspension, all new bits and cleaned it up and painted it. The car is at the cage builder now, so, I'm left to sort out the motor for the next 4-6 weeks while he gets the cage in place. Here are a couple of pics:

http://www.gt40s.com/images/jensen/trailer.JPG
http://www.gt40s.com/images/jensen/bay.JPG

Once it comes back from the cage builder we'll power wash it and apply a white spray job with red and black stripes. Should be decent looking, for a race car.

One thing is for certain - this thing is a pain to push around on pavement with a welded differential!!!!! Grass is okay, when the tires slip, but when they grip and you need to turn sharp it is damn hard to push.
