Just as the topic says, is the comptech "ice box" legal? I can't seem to get a clear answer and I would prefer to not be illegal running my GSR in ITS.

http://www.comptechusa.com/store/330121.html

Thanks in advance!

I think the answer you got at http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1177074 was pretty clear, even if it wasn't the one you wanted to hear. http://ITForum.ImprovedTouring.com/smile.gif If it leaves the engine compartment and the stock one didn't, then "no."

Ok Kirk you got me!

I am just trying to persuade myself to sell the ice box unit and leave just the "filter on a stick" and I am just lookig for as many opinions before I sell.

That would really irritate me to sell the ice box and find out its legal!

I run the comptech air box on my GSR. The rule book says "Air intake source shall be within the confines of the engine compartment or stock location". The stock air box resonator chamber in the GSR does go down behind the right front bumper and infront of the fender liner. Therefore I say it is legal.

Sounds like a protest waiting to happen to me...

Last time I checked, the air resonator chamber is NOT a source of air intake in the stock configuration... At least on my Nissan, it was a sealed chamber, or box, that is connected to the air box and is NOT an "air intake source"... While the resonator was mounted in the left wheel-whell, it was NOT a source of "air intake"...

If your resonator has an opening to intake fresh air OTHER than the one connected to the intake tube, then I take it back... But then, it wouldn't be a resonator at that point, so I doubt that's the case...

Brian,
the resonator may be in the fender well, but it (resonator) draws air from the engine compartment through that hole in the fender, behinf the ABS unit...

After checking a stock integra and checking the parts catalog, I stand corrected. Technically it is not legal. You would think that since I work for Acura I would've known this. Looks like I have some work to do before the next race. Thank you Darin for advising me of this.

Great. This is gonna be fun. Should I bring a lunch? http://ITForum.ImprovedTouring.com/biggrin.gif
I've got an idea. On your way up stop by shop cause the car is already on a lift. It'll make your job a little easier. Plus, we have lots of beer here and we can look at it after a 12 pack or so. http://ITForum.ImprovedTouring.com/biggrin.gif http://ITForum.ImprovedTouring.com/wink.gif
