View Full Version : GCR PDF Crack?

Anyone got a cracked PDF copy of the GCR, one that allows highlighting and copying of text? I really do appreciate the PDF GCR, but it's a real pain in the butt when someone has to type in entire paragraphs to describe something.

I've found plenty of programs that will crack PDFs with ease, I just don't want to spend the money for one PDF file... - GA

Greg,
How 'granular' are you looking? I use acrobat 5.0 quite a bit at work (not reader) and could probably break down some parts of the GCR into seperate files, but not sure how to do it without a lot of effort (if you are looking below the ITCS chapters)...
Of course, if I converted it to an html, txt or word file ...

I was whining about that exact issue the other day, looking for a rule about, um, switches. No - instruments! Whatever.

Dave, all I want is a crack to eliminate the Master password in the Security settings. By doing so I can highlight text to copy and paste into documents and letters. Open the document in Acrobat (or Reader) and try to highlight text, and you'll see what I mean.

The "proper" way around that is to open the file in Acrobat, select "File" then "Document Security..." then change the Security Options to "No Security". Unfortunately, (unlike last year) they password protected it.

However, Acrobat's security settings are basically child's play to crack, if you have the right program (such as this, among others: http://www.crackpassword.com/products/prs/...othersoft/pdf/) (http://www.crackpassword.com/products/prs/othersoft/pdf/)). Problem is, it's not worth $30-$60 to me to do it, so I'm hoping someone already has it.

And no, I don't feel bad about it, at all. I feel insulted and frustrated that SCCA won't allow us to copy and paste text from our PDF copy of the documents. There's absolutely no valid reason for it. So, if you got a crack, let's hear it! - GA

Write the comp board and tell them it should be changed because it's a "Safety" issue. http://Forum.ImprovedTouring.com/it/smile.gif

I was making a funny. This is the Internet and one must expect hyperbole, smart-assed-ness, and the odd rant.

I have a "crack" but i am positive that it will be no help with the GCR in PDF form. http://Forum.ImprovedTouring.com/it/smile.gif http://Forum.ImprovedTouring.com/it/smile.gif http://Forum.ImprovedTouring.com/it/smile.gif

One suggestion would be to not quote the GCR so much........ http://Forum.ImprovedTouring.com/it/biggrin.gif

No help w/ cheap crack here (but being a few blocks from DC City Hall, I'm sure now councilman Marion Barry could help), but I'm sure the lockdown has more to do with the fact that those PDF's are now being published, free to all on SCCA's website. It makes it just that much harder for unauthorized modifications to get out there.

Oh, and nothing good's ever come out of Parker's crack.

Bah, humbug. They distributed them on a CD-ROM the last two years, and we all know about how long it took for THAT to get distributed. Funny part, though: those last two years the PDFs had "security" enabled, but the password was blank!

Matters not: I've "cracked" the files now (that security is a real joke), and Lawton's gonna have to "listen" to me quoting until Kingdom Come!

care to share your findings on the security work around? :-)

yes, please share. I've been resorting to screen captures to avoid typing.

Here's your clue:
http://www.verypdf.com/pwdremover/index.htm

You should purchase the VeryPDF software (a legal product) for $30 (the trial only decrypts the first half of the PDF file.)

However,
http://www.serialz.to/P/6.htm (or similar)

CAVEAT!!! Unless you're running some pretty damn strong blocking software, be prepared to sacrifice your PC to the spyware/ adware/ porno popups/ virus/ Trojans/ spammer gods.

That latter link, by the way, is stealing. - GA

On one of the Solo lists I gaze upon periodically, they mentioned that the .pdf of the Solo2 rules now posted to the site allows copy-paste. (As of a couple weeks ago, it did not - just like the GCR.)

I haven't tried the GCR yet, but it would stand to reason.....
