I'm in a race against time trying to get my car (ITE) ready for the Lime Rock drivers school in May. I know that rules are somewhat different from region to region but generally, do I have to have a transponder and a fuel test port in order to be allowed on the track? Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Anthony--You need a fuel test port to get through Tech. It's theoretically on par with seat belts or a roll cage, notwithstanding the fact that many tech inspectors will let it slide to your first race.

Best advice is to put it in!

A transponder is not a tech requirement. The Supplemental regs for the school/event will usually tell you if it is required (generally not)

At the last LRP schools, a transponder wasn't required. However, the school is an ideal time to make sure that the transponder is working. When I initially installed my transponder (right before a school) the placement caused a weak signal. I had time to reinstall it in a better place before my first race.

Another Big Thumbs Up for Paul and the Fuel Port. Great product and elivery too. Be sure to have new washers if installing on the filter. The Transponder, if needed, can be bought direct from AMB-they ship same day on CC payment. If you have time-get the hard wired version. Ours is wired to AUX power via a switch on the dash.

I'll also give a vote for Paul Morrison at FuelPorts.com ... it's a lot easier than hunting around the Internet and parts stores for the proper fittings.

And many schools will have transponders for sale at registration for the same price (or close) that AMB has them on the web site.
