Anyone using a DL1 or DL90 data acquisition system from http://www.race-technology.com/?

I'm liking this piece, and thinking of buying one.

Thoughts?

Kyle,

These guys import the DL1:

You actually save about $20 buying from them given the currency exchange rate. Shipping may be in your favor also.

Don't think they carry older model.

I have a DL90 unit. Pretty good support via email. The 90 has limited data inputs, but I have successfully been able to record throttle position and exhaust O2 readings (in addition to built in g's and rpm). Start up and running was pretty easy, and common sense. I have not been able to set up a useable steering angle sensor (most likely my fault). The tach readings correspond to my Autometer.
The GPS based track maps are at the mercy of the DOD. During the 'active' Iraq war, GPS was next to useless and maps were bad. After 'the end of hostilities' everything returned to normal.
After 2.5 years, my DL90 suffered brain failure. Race technology has offered to replace it for the cost of shipping (CA-england and back). I consider that very good customer support!

Overall all, I recommend it, if it has enough channels to meet your needs. Data acquisition for the layman. Install it in your street car first (wires out the window and into the hood) and go do laps around a local clover leaf. Figure out how to use it before you go to the track!

I'll chime in here, if I violate the "commercial speech" ethic someone please thwack me!

We do import the DL1 (and support the IT website via a banner ad). We offer free shipping in the US (48 states) vs the manufacturer in England who charges for international shipping. You can get post-sales support from us AND the manufacturer so we think it's win-win.

We like the DL1 over the DL90 for the convenience of the removable CompactFlash card (take the data to the PC as opposed to the PC to the car, also allows BIG memory cheap) and the fact that it has 16 input channels beyond the basic setup.

There are many great alternatives in DA systems today. We like the GPS based system for convenience (no IR beacon, which can be a real PITA), ease of installation, and more accurate segment times. Installation can be as simple as mount the box and antenna, plug power lead into cigarette lighter (or fuse block).

I'll have the system at Summit Point and VIR this fall in my ITC Scirocco if anybody wants to have a look.

Sorry for typing too much!
