Short quick and to the point:
Is it better to put the sending unit before the oil cooler or after? and Why?

I have ours in the oil pan.

Before, because I like to know the oil temp coming out of the bearings (same as in pan)

Oil pan would be your most accurate reading.

I agree w/ the others. I want to see how hot the oil actually gets.

In the oil pan, and in your specific car's case, on the driver's side. The exhaust is too close to the pan on an Opel, and gives a false reading.
